Why Grow Cannabis Indoors?
Indoor cultivation gives you something the weather can never give an outdoor garden: complete control. You decide the season, the sun, the wind and the rain. Done right, a single tent in a spare room will out-produce — and out-quality — most backyard plots.
- Total environmental control — temperature, humidity, CO₂, light intensity and airflow are all on dials.
- Year-round harvests — run perpetual cycles and pull fresh flower every 8–10 weeks.
- Discretion — light-proof tents plus a carbon filter keep your grow invisible to neighbours.
- Top-shelf quality — protected flowers develop denser trichomes and richer terpene profiles.

1. Choosing Your Grow Space
Grow Tent vs. Dedicated Room
- Grow tent — light-proof, waterproof, pre-drilled ports, portable. The gold standard for hobbyists.
- Converted room — bigger canopy, but you''ll need to seal windows, protect floors and add your own ventilation.
Sizing Guide
- 2×2 ft — 1–2 plants. Closets and small apartments.
- 4×4 ft — 4–6 plants. The most popular home size; typically yields 1–2 lb per cycle.
- 5×5 ft — heavy lighting required, but serious yields.
Height matters. Plan on at least 6 ft of vertical clearance: pot (~12"), plant (~3–4 ft), and 12–18" of distance between the canopy and the light.
2. Lighting: Your Artificial Sun
LED vs. HPS vs. CMH
- LED — the modern default. Full spectrum, cool-running, energy-efficient. Recommended for all new grows.
- HPS — cheap upfront, excellent for flower, but hot and power-hungry.
- CMH — strong UV output (great for trichomes) but less efficient than top-tier LEDs.
How Much Light?
- Wattage: aim for 30–40 W per sq ft of actual LED draw.
- Veg spectrum: cooler / blue (5000–6500K).
- Flower spectrum: warmer / red (2000–3000K).
- Photoperiod: 18/6 for veg, 12/12 to flip into flower. Autoflowers stay on 18/6 (or even 20/4) start to finish.
3. Ventilation & Odor Control
Plants breathe CO₂. Without fresh air, growth stalls and humidity spikes invite mold. A proper system exchanges the tent''s air every 1–3 minutes.
- Inline fan — pulls hot, used air out. EC-motor fans are quietest and offer fine speed control.
- Carbon filter — mounted before the fan; scrubs odor on its way out.
- Oscillating clip fan — gentle internal breeze; strengthens stems and prevents micro-climates.
- Passive intake — open low ports so cool air is naturally drawn in as the inline fan pulls air out.
4. Climate: Temperature & Humidity
Target ranges by stage:
- Seedling: 22–26°C / 65–70% RH
- Vegetative: 22–28°C / 55–65% RH
- Early flower: 22–26°C / 45–55% RH
- Late flower: 18–24°C / 40–45% RH (low RH protects fat colas from bud rot)
Day/night swing: keep "lights-off" temps no more than 5–8°C cooler than "lights-on" to avoid stress and purple-from-cold leaf drop.
5. Soil, Hydro & Containers
- Soil — most forgiving. Use a quality airy mix (peat/coco/perlite). Great for beginners.
- Coco coir — hybrid between soil and hydro. Faster growth, but feed every watering.
- Hydroponics (DWC, RDWC) — fastest growth and biggest yields, but mistakes hurt fast. Intermediate+.
- Fabric pots — strongly recommended over plastic. They air-prune roots and prevent rot.
6. Training: Maximizing Every Square Foot
- LST (Low-Stress Training) — gently bend and tie down branches to flatten the canopy.
- Topping — cut the main stem to create 2 (or 4) co-dominant colas. Photoperiods only — autoflowers prefer LST.
- SCROG (Screen of Green) — weave branches through a trellis net so every bud site sits at the same height under the light.
- Defoliation — remove fan leaves blocking lower bud sites. Light hand, please.
7. Feeding & Watering
- pH: 6.0–6.8 in soil, 5.5–6.2 in coco/hydro.
- EC/PPM: start at ¼ strength and ramp up. Brown leaf tips = nutrient burn, back off.
- Veg nutrients are high-Nitrogen; flower nutrients are high P-K.
- Flush with plain pH''d water in the last 7–10 days for a clean, smooth smoke.
8. Harvest, Dry & Cure
- Dry hanging upside-down in a dark room at 18–20°C / 55–60% RH for 7–14 days.
- Cure in glass jars filled ¾ full. Burp daily for the first 2 weeks, then weekly. A 4–6 week cure is where the magic happens.
Indoor Quick Reference
- Light: 30–40 W LED / sq ft
- Veg: 18/6 · 5000–6500K · 60% RH
- Flower: 12/12 · 2000–3000K · 40–50% RH
- Air exchange: full tent every 1–3 minutes
- pH: 6.0–6.8 soil · 5.5–6.2 coco/hydro
- Cure: 4+ weeks in glass
Pick the Right Genetics for Indoor
Indoor space is precious, so choose strains bred to perform in a tent. Our in-house breeding program selects for compact structure, fast finishing times and heavy resin production — all stability-tested before every drop.
- Autoflower seeds — 8–10 weeks seed to harvest, perfect for first-time indoor growers.
- Feminized photoperiod seeds — bigger yields, full control over veg time, ideal for SCROG.
- Indica-dominant strains — naturally short and bushy, made for tents.
Every order is backed by our 90% Germination Guarantee. If a seed doesn''t pop, we replace it — and any free seeds included with your order are considered to offset that risk, so they aren''t covered separately under the guarantee.
